INTRODUCTION — Vasectomy is a safe, permanent birth control method for men. In the United States, one out of five men over age 35 has had a vasectomy. Sterilization (mainly female sterilization) is the most widely used contraceptive method among married couples in the United States. About 4 million are performed worldwide each year.
